Down Hill With Buck

I had a super rad day today. My good friend Adam Buck, who is one of the founders of the Minnesota Freeride Community, and I headed down to Red Wing to hit up an awesome downhill mountain bike trail. There are some really good technical jumps and other features on that trail that where perfect to session and get some shots on. We cut things short though because of the HORRIBLE mosquito that were out in full force.

Fixies on the Greenway

I have always wanted to get out to the Greenway bike path in Minneapolis to shoot bikers. My good friend Johnny had just put some finishing touches on his fix geared bike so he was more then willing to ride for the camera. After a few delays we go out to the bike bridge which is a fantastic looking bridge. Our shoot got cut short so I went with a couple other friends for a nice ride with 40lbs of camera gear on my back, needless to say it was a good workout but an enjoyable evening none the less.

Tranby and friends

Got a call yesterday afternoon from Josh Tranby asking if I wanted to come shoot some wakeboarding.  I was itching to get off my computer and do something fun so I jumped at the chance. I was also looking for something to shoot with my new 50mm 1.4 lens which I had got in the mail earlier that day.

Kick Ball

I went to my good friend Georges last Kickball game of the year. I had a great time shooting the shenanigans that went down… lets just say I never thought I would see the day where someone actually got kicked out of a beer league soccer game.

Last shoot at Badlands

I hit up my buddie Nate, who owns Ello skateboards, to go shoot some skating. We decided to head over a very sweet skate spot called the badlands. Badlands was a plot of land that was bank owned due to someone defaulting on the loan. Skaters had taken over and built a few features on the lot, police were ok with us riding there as long as the trash was picked up which was very cool for something that wasn’t actually legal. Long story short less then a week after this shoot I got the terrible news that the city bought the land and had shut down the badlands. I feel its safe to say this was the last shoot at badlands.

Red Bull Illume Photo Contest: Minnesota Photographer

So earlier this winter I decided I should submit a few photos to the Red Bull Illume contest.  I sent 5 photos in from last couple winters.  Today I was checking out the site where on the front page they have photos popping up on a map and to my surprise one of my shots popped up!  If you haven’t looked yet go watch the slideshow it will suck you in with some truly amazing photos.  This shot is of Alex Miller at our friend Shawn’s’ house. I wanted to do something different with such a simple rail. I went all out with two fog machines and 3 strobes all gel’ed.  I was quite happy with the results.
