Quick Pick #6
This is photo is from a roll of film I had forgotten about and recently developed. It was shot with a holga which is a very fun cheap plastic camera. The fun thing with the holga is that its extremely unpredictable due to its poor build, it gets light leeks and as you can see it is very easy to over lap your shots if you aren’t paying attention. I shot this I want to say at the Scott county fair a couple years back. The big canon looking thing is exactly that, a Human canon, which in the farthest right photo you can see a dot near the ferris wheel which is a guy being shot over the wheel.
The River
I have always had a love of the Mississippi River. Growing up only a few blocks from it, I use to go explore the cliffs and woods along its winding path. Every time I drive over it I marvel at the thought that this is the same river that once divided the country( remember the Louisiana purchase from 5th grade social studies?). The same river that one of America’s greatest writers, Mark Twain, commonly wrote about. It is a treasure that many people don’t think about as they pass over it during the blur of rush hour.
The Kicker Project
The Kicker Project was the brainchild of my good friend CT. The idea is to help underprivileged children to learn to snowboard and in summer skateboard. I was on hand for the groups first day on snow, at Hyland Hills in Bloomington, MN. The kids all had a blast and were learning quickly thanks to the help of two wonderful snowboard instructors, Christian and Taylor. The kids had so much fun in fact that two of them fell asleep on their van ride home. For more information on the Kicker Project check out their Facebook page: Kicker Project

Quick Pick #2
I drove out yesterday to Breckenridge Colorado, 16 hours total drive time. This morning I woke up to see something wonderful, tons of fresh snow on the ground!
Quick Pick #1
I feel that I don’t blog enough. In winter its a bit difficult because a lot of the photos I shoot are saved to send to magazines and companies. So I have decided to randomly post a single photo to keep things coming out on here. Today is a shot I grabbed of the Senate chambers at the Minnesota Capitol building while on another shoot.
A Fresh White Blanket
AT 12am on the 13th of November, while others were sleeping nestled in their sheets, another blanket was starting to wrap them as well. Snow had started to fall; in my excitement I garbed a camera and went out to grab a few photos our first snowfall of the year. I love when it snows, there is this deaf silence, where all sounds are muffled besides the quite patters of the big white flakes hitting the ground. It is a magical feeling that I always anticipate greatly and always puts a smile on my face. Winter is here and I couldn’t be more happy.
First Urban Mission of the Season
Well its about that time of year, things are cooling down and that means one thing…Time to start shooting skiing again. Duluth Minnesota got a few inches on October 27. I found out in the morning and right away called some friends up there to see if it was worth the 3 hour drive, it was. I kept things simple for this shoot and really only used my 5d and 50 1.4 lens though I did take a few shots with my Holga as well as my 7d. None of the photos are really “worth” anything but to say I shot rails in October and to see good friends was worth the trip alone.
A day in Milwaukee
I was hired to shoot the Midwest Ski Film Fest this past weekend. It’s a great event held in Milwaukee Wisconsin. Last year I went and didn’t get to spend any time in Milwaukee so this year I made a point of it to check out the town as well as their amazing art museum. Here are a few shots from around town.
Winching Southern Minnesota
Last week my friends Josh Tranby and Adam Buck headed down to Southern Minnesota where heavy rain had caused major flooding. We brought a winch with us and were able to find a few spots to hit while we were there. At first we were not sure if we would do anything, we felt bad that peoples homes were being flooded and thought it would be rude to “make light of a serious situation”. One spot we were scoping out was next to some homes that were at risk of being flooded. We helped move sandbags with one family then asked if they would be cool if we winched near their home. They were delighted and were nothing less then stoked to see Josh rip it up in the flood waters. In the end it was a great experience and a fun day.
The Cabin: Northern Minnesota
A couple weekends ago I went to my friends cabin. Its always an amazing time up there, great food, cheap beer, amazing friends and family. One of the highlights this year was our friend Mike had rigged up his spud cannon to shoot fireballs over the lake like a flamethrower.
